Introduction
The 3rd Global Tourism & Hospitality Conference will feature a pre-conference workshop on “Publishing in Academic Journals” to be held on 4 June 2017. In this session, Ms. Lyndsey Dixon - Regional Journals Editorial Director, APAC will share with you a few tips and advice to help you succeed in publishing:
- Why publish?
- Choosing the right journal
- What is Open Access?
- Tips on writing for a journal
- Ethics of Publication
- Peer Review process
- Promoting your journal article
This will be followed by a panel discussion with faculty members of the School of Hotel and Tourism Management, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
Speaker
Ms. Lyndsey Dixon, Regional Journals Editorial Director, APAC
Ms. Lyndsey Dixon is the Journals Editorial Director for Asia Pacific at Taylor & Francis. Leading a rapidly expanding team spread across the region she is responsible for the growth and development of this dynamic and multidisciplinary APAC journal portfolio. With over a decade in the publishing industry globally, she’s witnessed many of the modern shifts in the landscape from print to online and subscription to Open Access. Working with academic societies, editors and authors from across the globe there are few issues with which she hasn’t dealt. Sharing knowledge is integral to her role and she has vast experience working to develop those involved in publishing at various levels: be that as course tutor for STM Association training the next cohort of publishing professionals, providing seminars to Journal Editors across the region or hosting workshops (such as these) to Early Career Researchers.
Panelists
Professor Rob Law, School of Hotel and Tourism Management, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University
Prof. Rob Law has worked in Canada and Hong Kong in both industry and academia. As an active researcher, he has received many research related awards and honors, as well as millions of USD external and internal research grants. He has edited four books and published hundreds of research articles in reputable academic journals. Since 2012, his publications have received 13,500+ citations, with h-index/i 10-index = 54/208. In addition, Prof. Law serves in different roles for 150+ research journals, and is a chair/committee member of more than 140 international conferences.
Dr. Jinsoo Lee, School of Hotel and Tourism Management, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University
Dr. Jinsoo Lee is an Associate Professor and Doctoral Program Leader in the School of Hotel and Tourism Management at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. While teaching courses, including SEM for doctoral students, he publishes research papers in the areas of MICE, hotel, and restaurant with the application of quantitative research methods and recently extends his research into scale development and validation. He is currently serving as a managing editor of Journal of Travel & Tourism Marketing and a coordinating editor of International Journal of Hospitality Management. Dr. Jinsoo Lee received his BS degree in Business Administration at Chung-Ang University, Korea, Master's degree at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and Ph.D. at Kansas State University, USA.
