Golden Bauhinia Square and HKCEC
The bauhinia is the emblem of Hong Kong. The Golden Bauhinia Square is a landmark made to commemorate the 1997 Handover when China resumed sovereignty over Hong Kong. Many visit the square to enjoy the pomp and symbolism of the daily flag raising ceremony. Behind the Golden Bauhinia Square lies the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). A world-class convention and exhibition centre in its own right, the HKCEC was where the handover ceremony was held 20 years ago.
